The main task of this department is to train civil engineers who are creative, inquisitive, innovative, entrepreneurial, analytical, prone to teamwork, focused on lifelong learning and self-development, who have gained basic engineering knowledge, design and application skills, including education and research activities in the field of civil engineering, and to help solve the problems faced by various institutions, to establish the awareness of the regulation, to lead the professional responsibility and ethical rules.

Career Opportunities
Civil engineering graduates will be able to be employed as designers, implementers, controllers and contractors with different titles in both the public and private sectors, such as;
• All kinds of engineering structures, in other words, all necessary infrastructures for urbanization and bridges, roads, railways, tunnels, airports, ports.
• Supply and distribution of drinking water and irrigation water, drainage and sewerage network, water treatment plants
• Dam and pond areas for energy production, irrigation and protection from natural disasters
In our country, civil engineers can work in the Ministries of Public Works and Settlement, Forestry, Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Energy and Natural Resources, Transportation, General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works and Highways, and Public Economic Enterprises.
Undergraduate education is given under two separate programs: Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering (English). Moreover, Civil engineering (Master's) and Civil Engineering (PhD) graduate education programs are carried out.
In addition, there are 5 working laboratories that contribute to the education of the department students, where the graduate and doctoral students carry out their experimental studies and at the same time various research projects are carried out. These;

• Hydraulics Laboratory,
• Building and Earthquake Laboratory,
• Building Materials Laboratory,
• Topography Laboratory.
