Department has rich curriculum consolidated by a wide variety of elective and compulsory courses in order to provide you with the opportunity to become a good economist and explore your interests. With experienced academic staff and educational program in line with current trends, we aim to train economists who stand out both in the sector and in academia.
Program Outcomes
The first condition for being a good economist in a world that is being dynamically transformed by globalization, is to be able to get to the root of the problems encountered in the pathway to a strong economy – such as financial instability, unemployment, inflation and price volatility – and to develop solutions for these problems. At Istinye University Economics Department, we therefore aim to equip the students with the following abilities:
Observing trends and problems at both the national and the global levels in the light of a strong theoretical background by comprehending economic, social and technological dynamics
Making appropriate predictions and offering solutions by considering economic problems from a wide perspective and interpreting them correctly within the scope of these observations
Having a comprehensive knowledge of current information technologies through being aware of the importance of artificial intelligence and developing AI-based approaches in economics
Being a questioning researcher who constantly follows international publications, developments and new trends
Job Opportunities for Graduates
In the global economy, which is becoming increasingly competitive, being able to enter new markets and increase existing market shares is becoming more of an issue for companies. More and more, we need broad-visioned economists who are well-educated in developing and implementing public policies for this issue. In this context, economics graduates can work in a wide range of roles in both the public and private sectors. The main areas of employment for economics graduates are banking and finance, economic administration, auditing, inspectorship, foreign trade, accounting and marketing. In addition, economics as an interdisciplinary program is very suitable for an academic career.
