Mechanical engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the design, analysis, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems by using fundamental physics principles and material technologies, and trains engineers who can provide analytical solutions to problems by mathematical modeling. The importance of mechanical engineering that is one of the basic engineering disciplines, increase with the technological developments.
Graduates of Mechanical Engineering department can work on design and manufacturing of mechanical and energy systems; HVAC systems, sanitary installation, gas installation, fire installation and lift equipment, manufacturing, maintenance and repair of automotive industry, mechatronics, robotics and biomechanics.
Mechanical engineers are concerned in a number of areas including machine tools, automotive industry, automation, material science, energy, gas and steam turbines, piston compressors, nuclear reactors, internal combustion engines, cooling, heating, ventilation systems. They also work in different sectors such as durable household appliances, automotive, aerospace, medical instrumentations, construction, heating-cooling and air-conditioning, energy, defense industry, and agriculture industry. They also have the opportunity to work in the areas from large projects such as bridges and dams to manufacturing of small products. Briefly, it can be stated that the mechanical engineers can find jobs in almost all the manufacturing companies.
Mechanical Engineering Department started education at 2015-2016 Fall Semester and carried out its education in accordance with national and international teaching standards. In order to graduate from this department with the title of Mechanical Engineer, the students have to be successful in theoretical courses, practices and laboratories, and do internships as a total of 60 working days including 30 days production and 30 days engineering training.
Within the scope of graduate activities, there is a Mechanical Engineering Master's Program that provides teaching and training in the evenings for the engineers who work at their jobs and want to improve their scientific and engineering knowledge.
