About the Program
Pre-school Education Master’s Program is specially designed to meet skilled and certified pre-school teachers needed at educational institutions. The program provides students with hands-on training in pedagogy and methodologies as well as in-depth study of the child's development in terms of social-emotional, language development, cognitive development, psychomotor skills, and other needs of children up to the age of 6. The main aim of the program is to guide students to be competent professionals who will contribute to society’s needs in terms of child development. Within this program, students complete 7 courses, one seminar, and a thesis. The students who hold a relatively different degree and want to qualify for a master’s degree in pre-school education may be required to take scientific foundation courses. Courses mainly focus on early childhood growth and development, development theories, instructional methods, statistics, research methods, and comparative education.
Education Opportunities
This program adopts a multidisciplinary approach through which all theoretical courses include scientific research projects under the supervision of expert academics. The CIU Library offers a wide range of journals, online databases, and books for students to aid them with their research studies. The number of students in each course is limited to allow students and teachers to interact closer and have in-depth discussions. All courses are designed to structure professional experiences, incorporating observation under the guidance of experienced, qualified professionals. Each course has its own research project to be presented in the classroom. Also, each student is encouraged to join workshops on early childhood education, congresses, and/or symposiums.
Career Areas
Upon completion of the master’s degree, the graduates earn the qualification to work as a teacher; teaching children aged 0-6. Pre-school education has a curriculum that not only focuses on the development of children between 0 – 6 years and related practices but also integrates theories and curricular knowledge. Graduates of the pre-school education master’s degree are considered skilled enough to teach in diverse educational and cultural settings in both public and private schools and in other settings related to pre-school education. Moreover, graduates can have a career as an instructional coordinator or curriculum counselor at the Ministry of National Education. Besides, graduates are also considered as the best candidates for a Ph.D. degree in early childhood education.
