About the Program
Cyprus International University Faculty of Pharmacy has YÖK (Higher Education Council of Turkey) and YÖDAK (Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation, and Coordination Board of North Cyprus) approval, and graduates acquire the title of ‘pharmacist’. Our faculty, which has 5-year M.Pharm. and 6-year Pharm.D. programs, was established in 2011 and has had its first graduates in 2015. The faculty is a member of different organizations such as the European Pharmaceutical Students Association under the name of CIUPSA. Our pioneering national and international reputation of the Faculty of Pharmacy has been crowned with obtaining accreditation from the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria. Our faculty which settled in the new and innovative Science and Technology Building equipped with the newest high-tech devices in labs give importance to both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. With its powerful academic staff, the Faculty of Pharmacy offers lectures in the English language and the graduating pharmacists follow scientific developments with professional ethics using a universal perspective.
Educational Opportunities
Cyprus International University Faculty of Pharmacy consists of a 5-year M.Pharm. program and 6-year Pharm.D. program. Students who graduate from the CIU Faculty of Pharmacy obtain the ‘pharmacist’ title. Lectures are comprised of both theoretical and practical components. Not only theoretical input but also laboratory works are led by expert lecturers where lectures and laboratory work take place in innovatively-designed Science and Technology Building equipped with the latest technological devices. The dual-degree agreement was signed between the Faculty of Pharmacy and the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy in the 2017-2018 academic year. According to this agreement, pharmacy students are allowed to study their first three years at CIU and complete the last two years at the University of Rome Tor Vergata in Italy. The medium of instruction in the Faculty of Pharmacy in English. This allows graduates to have an international perspective, and have the opportunity to work all over the world as a pharmacist. Scientific developments are closely followed throughout ongoing education and in this light, graduate pharmacists will give priority to the health of patients and will be following the ethical values of pharmacy and the developments in science throughout their professional lives.
Career Areas
Graduates of our faculty will be able to find employment not only in community pharmacies but also in pharmaceutical industries. They will be able to work in clinical research, patent, active material development, formulation development, new product stability, and pharmaceutical technology fields. They can evaluate the quality control of novel products, help in suspension, tablet, capsule preparation, clinical or basic research coordination, drug legislation, drug marketing, and in international research facilities due to their ability to carry out their profession in English. They can work as consultants in forensic science branches, health ministries, drug stores, drug analysis/synthesis facilities. Alternatively, they can continue their studies, improve critical thinking and research skills to pursue their career as academics.
