About the Department
Visual communication design which comprises many fields, like photography, video production, advertising design, game design, and page design emerged with the rise of the needs of the last two centuries. Because of these characteristics, visual communication has its own unique place in the communication faculties. Visual communication design exceeds the limitations of graphic design and embraces a wide range of areas related to mainly communication such as TV and film production, video and image processing, 2D and 3D animation, photography, package design, and corporate identity design. Visual communication design education, in short, is for the students who like transferring knowledge, ideas, and dreams using photographic images, videos, and films, and who want to discover the creative potential in visual elements, and new things deeply affecting them.
Educational Opportunities
The program utilizes an interdisciplinary approach using art and technology, supported by other scientific disciplines which allow department students to have real work experience during their education. In addition to the theoretical courses where recent aesthetic tendencies and the theoretical basis of communication are taught in an interactive atmosphere, the department also has intensive practical courses in which students discover their creative potentials and deepen that potential with the lecturers’ specialized knowledge. Practical fields include video production, multimedia design, 2D and 3D graphic animation, editing and the teaser’s graphic, web design, 3D modeling, and package design, and visual communication studio works. The courses are taken in English in an international atmosphere from experienced lecturers.
Career Areas
Students have the opportunity to develop their technical skills and work experience in national media organizations during their education. Because of the wide scope of education at the department which covers several fields, including graphic design, computer-aided design, digital video, and image processing; students have the opportunity to choose their career fields after graduation.
